Wearing Mom's Old Clothes

They say fashion is just a recurring cycle. Even Coco Chanel had something to say about this. According to her, "Elegance does not consist in putting on a new dress."  She even added that "Fashion fades, only style remains."

True, indeed. Some pieces endure the test of time and can still be worn in the passing of years. All you need is to re-style or splash more creativity to make vintage pieces work. They don't need to look like something from that old box hidden in the basement. Proper care for clothes can ensure that they can still be worn years and years after.

Here are two of my mom's old clothes. I wore them after decades of being hidden in her closet. Who would think these are oldies?  Looks fine, still. =)

This yellow dress looked very plain then. It was added some beads and sequins to make it more young.
This green sweater must be around 25 years old. I didn't  do anything but put it on top of a simple white-sleeved top. It's just a classic piece.

I am still looking for other finds from my mom's closet. I recently found a see-through laced long-sleeved black top that's really "in" right now. I will take a photo wearing it soon and share it with you guys. ^_^

How about you? What clothes or accessories from your mom's or even grandma's closet have you tried wearing? Did it work for you? Let me know! ^_^
